RE: [DML] Getting pulled over :)

To add to this thread:

Earlier this year I was returning from California,
through Utah on Interstate 70. Speed limit is 75 - I
invariably cruise at 80.

As I rounded a long sweeping curve I spotted a Utah
State Police car parked in the median between the East
and West bound lanes. Long before I even got to him
he had turned on his flashers and I pulled over so
that he didn't even have to move his car.

He said I was doing 86 mph! I knew I wasn't, but okay
let's see where this goes. Then he asked for my
license, registration, insurance and went back to his
cruiser. I thought I had been stoppped by a real hard
ass.

When he returned he handed me a "courtesy ticket"
(which BTW in Utah is actually a very nicely worded
letter warning of the potential consequences of
speeding) and wanted to talk about the car. As we
parted company and I thanked him for the "courtesy
citation", he said, "Well, I just couldn't give you a
ticket for speeding in a DeLorean at 86 mph. Anything
less than 100 mph would be an insult to this car."
